History and Origin of Noni
For over 2000 years, ancient Polynesians treasured and protected many of nature’s gifts in the form of trees, plants, fruits and nuts as foods and sources of health-promoting vitamins and minerals. The great canoe voyagers of the Pacific often carried along seeds or seedlings of many plants as they discovered explored and colonized hundreds of islands in the millions of square miles of the ocean. Many beneficial plants grew wild in the islands of the Pacific.
One of the most treasured of all the trees, and its abundant fruits, was named Noni (Morinda citrifolia). Morinda citrifolia is assumed to have originated in Southeast Asia precisely from India and was distributed throughout the Pacific islands by natural and man-made means. It is believed that the ancient peoples of the Polynesian Islands brought the Noni plant with them as a source of food and medicine when they colonized the islands of the South Pacific. Written documentation about the use of Noni as food dates back to the late 1700s when Captain James Cook observed that the fruit was consumed in Tahiti.
Subsequent publications indicate that Noni fruit was commonly eaten raw or cooked in Fiji, Roratonga, Samoa, Australia, India, Hawaii, Malaysia, the Caribbean and areas of China. Seeds, leaves, bark and people familiar with the qualities of this unusual plant also consumed roots. In addition, the roots and bark of the Noni plant were scraped and pounded to form a yellow or red dye used to color tapa cloths and clothing.
In modern times, the foremost contributor to the taxonomy of the plants of the Far East, Elmer Drew Merrill (1876-1956) included the Noni plant in his published U.S. Military Survival guide written for soldiers based on tropical Polynesian islands during World War II. In his book, Merrill recommended Noni fruit to American GIs as an emergency food or to give them added sustenance.
It wasn’t until the early 1950s that a renowned scientific researcher and biochemist would begin important research that would lead to the discovery of the healthful properties found in Noni.
What is Morinda Citrifolia?
Originally native to the Pacific islands of Tahiti (French Polynesia), the herb Morinda citrifolia (better known as Noni) is a distinctive-smelling tropical plant that now grows wild in other parts of the region, including Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia. For more than 2,000 years Polynesian folk healers and others who became familiar with the fruit-bearing plant have valued it highly as both a food and healing agent.
This amazing botanical, also known as Indian mulberry is an evergreen shrub or small tree, which can grow to heights of fifteen to twenty feet. It has rigid, coarse branches, which bear conspicuous, thick, deep veined, dark green, oval, glossy leaves, which are generally paired, except where forming fruit. The tree grows wild in many tropical climes, especially if the soil is nutrient-rich and if the climate allows the tree and its fruit to grow, blossom and proliferate. The tropical Noni fruits grow almost continuously on the trees, allowing for several harvests per year. Natural organic mulch is produced around the base of the trees when leaves and fruits fall to the ground where they become natural fertilizers.
A multitude of small white fragrant flowers bloom out of cluster-like pods, which bear small bumpy fruits, which turn from green to yellow and then to cream white as they ripen and ultimately fall from the branch. The fruit is gel-like when ripened and emits a fetid aroma akin to blue cheese. The flesh of the fruit is bitter. The mature Noni fruit is about the size of a potato and resembles a small breadfruit. Medicinal properties are believed to reside in the leaves, roots, and the distinctive fruits.

The Science Behind Noni
XERONINE THEORY
Past theory and research states that noni helps in normalization of abnormally functioning cells by delivering to the body the essential biochemical compound proxeronine, which cells then assemble into an alkaloid, xeronine. Xeronine exhibits positive effects on cells, which results in most people feeling better. It incorporates itself into the structure of certain specific proteins; this change in the protein’s structure allows it to concentrate the tremendous amount of energy contained in water to do various types of mechanical, chemical and electrical work in each cell. These actions enable a normal cell to work more efficiently and assist damaged cells to normalize.
XERONINE: THE SECRET OF NONI?
The most informed professional on the subject of noni in recent years is Dr. Ralph Heinicke; a biochemist, who has researched the active compounds of the noni fruit for a number of years. He discovered that the noni fruit contains an alkaloid precursor to a very vital compound called xeronine. Without xeronine, life would cease. In Dr. Heinicke’s view, noni fruit provides a safe and effective way to increase xeronine levels, which exert a crucial influence on cell health and protection.
His research suggests that the juice from the M. citrifolia fruit contains what could technically be considered a precursor of xetonine-proxeronine in the intestinal tract after it comes in contact with specific enzyme, which is also contained in the juice. This particular chemical combination is believed to significantly affect cellular function, which can determine a whole host of physiological reactions.
Noni helps in the normalization of abnormally functioning cells by delivering to the body the essential biochemical compound proxeronine, which our body’s cells then assemble into the alkaloid xeronine. Xeronine exhibits positive effects on cells that result in most people feeling better.
Xeronine has two functions in cells:
1 – Having a rigid, girder-like structure, it can provide a fulcrum point when it positions itself in a crevice of certain specific proteins.
2 – Xeronine may also enable a protein to concentrate the tremendous amount of energy contained in body water.
Below is a detailed report of Dr. Ralph Heinicke’s research:
Dr. Ralph Heinicke – Xeronine and Cell Regeneration
As a researcher in Hawaii, Dr. Ralph Heinicke became aware of the marvelous benefits of the Noni fruit and set out to find the pharmacologically active ingredient of the Noni. Dr. Heinicke had spent over 45 years studying the effects of an alkaloid he discovered and named xeronine. Xeronine is a relatively small alkaloid, which is physiologically very active and important for the proper functioning of all cells in the body. In his research, Dr. Heinicke discovered that the Noni juice contains appreciable amounts of the precursor of xeronine that he named “pro-xeronine.” Pro-xeronine releases pure xeronine in the intestines when it comes in contact with a particular enzyme also found in the Noni Juice.
Dr. Heinicke’s theory is that, when released, xeronine actually works at the molecular level to repair damaged cells. Dr. Heinicke states that the primary function of xeronine is to regulate the rigidity and shape of specific proteins. Since these proteins have different functions within the cells, this explains how the administration of Noni Juice causes an unbelievably wide range of physiological responses.
“Some of the problems which drinking Noni Juice might favorably affect are: high blood pressure, menstrual cramps, arthritis, gastric ulcers, sprains, injuries, mental depression, senility, poor digestion, atherosclerosis, blood vessel problems, drug addiction, relief of pain, and many others. Although this list looks like a page torn out of a traveling medicine man’s manual, it is probably conservative.”
– Dr. Heinicke
When Ralph M. Heinicke received his doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota, he wanted to escape from those cold Minnesota winters and so he took a job with Dole Pineapple Company in Hawaii. His first assignment was to develop a method to extract the enzyme that caused pineapple to prevent gelatin deserts from setting up. He found it was an enzyme called bromelain and in due time he and his co-workers found a way to extract it. Soon the Dole Company found that every day they had over a thousand pounds of this crude bromelain enzyme extract left over as a waste product. At the time it had no commercial value, and so the company president asked Dr. Heinicke to see if he could find some use for this material. Eventually he found it was a proteolytic enzyme that had some medical applications. He worked with Smith-Kline and the Rohr pharmaceutical companies to expand its medical use.
In order to get FDA approval for this enzyme he had to refine the crude bromelain extract down to an extremely pure protease enzyme. Much to his and the drug companies amazement, the more pure the enzyme became, the less beneficial it was in many of its applications. Eventually, in its purest state, it had only 5% of its original potency for many of its uses. Dr. Heinicke was then asked to find what it was they were removing that had given the crude bromelain extract all of its power. Meanwhile the giant Japanese drug company Toshiba had also launched a 3-year, 3 million-dollar program to find the same answer. At the end of that time they had used up all their money and not found the answer. Not one to give up easily, Dr. Heinicke continued his research and eventually found to his great surprise that the active ingredient was not a protein, carbohydrate or fat, but a substance known as an alkaloid.
Alkaloids are one of the most important classes of phytochemicals known, and are a major source from which many modern medicines are drawn from Nature. By isolating this alkaloid into a pure state, he was able to identify its exact chemical structure. Because it could be reduced to a dry crystalline structure he decided to use the Latin prefix “Xero” meaning “dry” as the first part of its name. Since it was also an alkaline compound he tacked on the suffix “ine” indicating its alkaline nature. When the prefix and suffix are combined it gives us the word “Xeronine” which means, “a dry alkaline compound”. This is the descriptive name he chose for the compound he discovered.
Eventually he found that Xeronine was a very important biochemical in the human body and essential for good health. It is so essential that the human body has a limited ability to manufacture it from the raw material found in certain fruits. Like many other biochemicals produced in the body, he found that positive thoughts and emotions, along with exposure to art, music, nature and spiritual experiences increased its production. While negative thoughts, emotions and stressful experiences suppressed its production. He also learned that as the body’s level of Xeronine declined with age, stress and a poor diet, the level of health and recovery declined right along with it.
Uses And Benefits Of Noni
- TRADITIONAL USES OF NONI
Throughout tropical regions, virtually every part of Morinda citrifolia was used to treat disease or injury. Its curative properties were well known and commonly employed. Traditionally Polynesians use noni for basically everything in the treatment of illness. Noni is a part of their lives. The juice from its roots, its flowers, and its fruit and leaves are used to make medicine for external use as well as internal use, and for all kinds of ailments, such as coughs, boils, diseases of the skin, and cuts.
The following is only a partial list of how island folk healers used this very valuable plant.
- Poultices of noni fruit were applied to swollen areas, deep cuts, boils, and inflamed joints for immediate relief.
- Women in Malaysia used noni fruit juice and bark decoctions to stimulate delayed menstruation.
- Noni was frequently utilized for its antiparasitic activity.
- Respiratory ailments, coughs, and colds were treated with noni.
- A juice made from pounding noni leaves, roots and fruit mixed with water was administered for diarrhea.
- Dried and powdered forms of the bark mixed with water were given to kill intestinal parasites.

- Leaf infusions were traditionally taken to treat adult fevers.
- A mouthwash consisting of crushed ripe fruit and juice was used of inflamed gums on young boys.
- Pounded leaf juice was used for adult gingivitis.
- Chewing the leaves and swallowing the juice treated sore throats.
- Skin abscesses and boils were covered with leaf poultices.
- Swelling was controlled with leaf macerations.
- Heated leaves were often used for arthritic joins and for ringworm.
- The juice was combined with garlic and used as a great purifier and cleanser of bacteria from the body.
- Boiled juice was used for diabetes and strained raw noni was used for heart problems and high blood pressure and it was said to increase blood flow
- The young unripe fruit can be pounded thoroughly with salt and the mixture placed carefully on deep cuts and on broken bones. Sometimes the juice is squeezed out of this mixture, boiled and applied to the wounds.
- The ripe fruit was used as a poultice for facial blemishes, rubbed until the oil disappears, and also to draw out the pus and core from an infected sore or boil, such as with a staph infection. In the old days, this was tied on with a bandage of tapa bark cloth. The dressing of noni could be reapplied more than once for difficult cases.
- Samoan and Hawaiian medical practitioners used noni for bowel disorders (especially infant diarrhea, constipation, or intestinal parasites.
Today traditional healers claim that the fruit can be eaten or consumed as a juice, or added to basic recipes, for the purposes of warding off arthritis, rheumatic disease, the effects of aging, tuberculosis, and a variety of other ills.
Traditional healers use specific parts of the noni plant to treat different medical conditions. The plant’s leaves, for instance, are wrapped around arthritic joints, applied to the forehead to ease a headache, or brewed into tea to sip as a tonic. The stem bark and green leaves are crushed and strained to produce a liquid that is drunk to treat urinary tract problems and as a general tonic.
Noni is also used topically. Ripe fruit is mashed into a poultice and then applied to blemishes and boils to draw out pus. A soft mush of unripe fruit is combined with salt and applied to cuts and broken bones to accelerate healing.
The juice of the noni fruit is worked in to the hair and scalp as a shampoo to kill head lice. (Typically this shampooing is followed by an aromatic rinse to clear the fruit’s pungent smell.) Noni juice is sometimes recommended for heart problems such as high blood pressure, either alone or combined with capsaicin (cayenne pepper). It has been used in the treatment of diabetes.

Research indicates that noni strengthens the immune system; regulating cell function and cellular regeneration of damaged cells. Noni is useful for a wide variety of conditions because it operates on the very basic and critical cellular level.
Noni lowers high blood pressure, works with serotonin to help regulate sleep, temperature and mood cycles. Noni increases body energy, acts as anti-inflammatory and anti-histamic agent alleviates pain, has antibacterial properties that can protect against digestive and heart damage, inhibits pre-cancer function and growth of cancer tumors.
Not only does noni provide many benefits on its own, but it also increases the effectiveness of other functions.
Noni possesses a wide variety of medicinal properties, which originate from its differing plant components. The fruit and leaves of the shrub exert antibacterial activities. Its roots promote the expulsion of mucus and the shrinkage of swollen membranes making it an ideal therapeutic for nasal congestion, lung infections, and hemorrhoids. Noni root compounds have also shown natural sedative properties as well as the ability to lower blood pressure. Leaf extracts are able to inhibit excessive blood flow or to inhibit the formation of blood clots. Noni is particularly useful for its ability to treat painful joint conditions and to resolve skin inflammations. Many people drink noni fruit extracts in juice form for hypertension, painful menstruation, arthritis, gastric ulcers, diabetes, and depression. Recent studies suggest that its anticancer activity should also be considered. Concerning the therapeutic potential of Morinda citrifolia fruit juice Dr.
Heinicke writes: “I have seen the compound found in noni work wonders. When I was still investigating its possibilities, I had a friend who was a medical research scientist administer the proxeronine to a woman who had been comatose for the three months. Two hours after receiving the compound, she sat up in bed and asked where she was…. Noni is probably the best source of proxeronine that we have today.”
Studies and surveys combined support the ability of noni to act as an immunostimulant, inhibit the growth of certain tumors, enhance and normalize cellular function and boost tissue regeneration. It is considered a powerful blood purifier and contributor to overall homeostasis.

NONI AND CANCER
What is cancer?
Cancer develops when cells in a part of the body begin to grow out of control. Although there are many kinds of cancer, they all start because of out-of-control growth of abnormal cells.
Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion. During the early years of a person’s life, normal cells divide more rapidly until the person becomes an adult. After that, cells in most parts of the body divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells and to repair injuries.
Because cancer cells continue to grow and divide, they are different from normal cells. Instead of dying, they outlive normal cells and continue to form new abnormal cells.
Cancer cells develop because of damage to DNA. This substance is in every cell and directs all its activities. Most of the time when DNA becomes damaged the body is able to repair it. In cancer cells, the damaged DNA is not repaired. People can inherit damaged DNA, which accounts for inherited cancers. Many times though, a person’s DNA becomes damaged by exposure to something in the environment, like smoking.
Cancer usually forms as a tumor. Some cancers, like leukemia, do not form tumors. Instead, these cancer cells involve the blood and blood-forming organs and circulate through other tissues where they grow.
Often, cancer cells travel to other parts of the body, where they begin to grow and replace normal tissue. This process is called metastasis. Regardless of where a cancer may spread, however, it is always named for the place it began. For instance, breast cancer that spreads to the liver is still called breast cancer, not liver cancer.
Not all tumors are cancerous. Benign (non-cancerous) tumors do not spread to other parts of the body (metastasize) and, with very rare exceptions, are not life threatening.
Different types of cancer can behave very differently. For example, lung cancer and breast cancer are very different diseases. They grow at different rates and respond to different treatments. That is why people with cancer need treatment that is aimed at their particular kind cancer.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. Nearly half of all men and a little over one-third of all women in the US will develop cancer during their lifetimes. Today, millions of people are living with cancer or have had cancer. The risk of developing most types of cancer can be reduced by changes in a person’s lifestyle, for example, by quitting smoking and eating a better diet. The sooner a cancer is found and treatment begins, the better are the chances for living for many years.
A study conducted in 1994 cited the anticancer activity of Morinda citrifolia against lung cancer. A team of scientists from the University of Hawaii used live laboratory mice to test the medicinal properties of the fruit against Lewis lung carcinomas, which were artificially transferred to lung tissue. The mice that were left untreated died in nine to twelve days. However, giving noni juice in consistent daily doses significantly prolonged their life span. Almost half of these mice lived for more than fifty days. Research conclusions state that the chemical constituents of the juice acted indirectly by enhancing the ability of the immune system to deal with invading malignancy by boosting macrophage or lymphocyte activity. Further evaluation theorizes that the unique chemical constituents of Morinda citrifolia initiate enhanced T-cell activity, a reaction that may explain noni’s ability to treat a variety of infectious diseases.
How does Noni fight Cancer?
NONI contains many anti-cancerous components:
1 Polysaccharide rich substance theory: Modern theory and research indicates that the noni plant possesses a polysaccharide-rich substance that comes from the fruit of noni. It is very important to spend the time and age the fruit to maximize the quality of this polysaccharide substance that is used for many health benefits. Polysaccharides block the attachment of contaminated cells to other cells thus preventing metastasis. Researchers at the University of Hawaii – School of Medicine discovered that there was nothing in their Noni extract that killed the cancer cells directly. What they discovered was that there was a polysaccharide compound (6-D-glucopyranose pentaacetate) found in the Noni that increased the ability of the immune system to produce chemicals that enhanced the killing power of the white blood cells.
Noni inhibits pre-cancer function & the growth of cancer tumors by allowing abnormal cells to function more normally.
2 Anthraquinone: Anthraquinones are bitter plant compounds found in Noni. They have anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, anti-parasitic and anti-cancerous effects. Anthraquinones are also particularly effective against many forms of Staphylococcus, a major cause of many skin infections, which sometimes infect the valves of the heart. Furthermore, anthraquinones in Noni prompt the digestive secretions of the stomach and small intestines, stimulate bile flow and promote the activity of the entire digestive process. They also boost our immunity. Damnacanthal (a specific anthraquinone in Noni) inhibits the function of K-RAS-NRK cells, which are considered precursors to certain types of malignancies. Another anthraquinone called Alizarin in Noni cuts out the blood supply to cancerous tissue. This slows down the growth of cancer.
Japanese scientists in 1993 from a very reputable laboratory in Kao University in Yokohama, Japan were looking for a substance to fight cancer. They searched through over 500 different extracts from tropical plants looking for something, which would inhibit the growth of RAS cancer cells. These are a particular type of fast growing and very malignant cancer cells that are hard to stop. Reporting in the journal Cancer Letters, the scientists stated that the Noni extract was by far the most effective at inhibiting and normalizing RAS transformed cancer cells. Its damnacanthol content was clinically described in 1993 as “a new inhibitor of RAS function.”
RAS is a normal part of the cell structure in every cell. It is a small protein, which, is part of the RNA of the cell and encodes for the reproduction of the cell. Only when activated by a carcinogenic protein within the cell, does it trigger the cells to reproduce wildly. If you can turn off this uncontrolled RAS activity, you stop the cancers growth. What the Japanese scientists found was that one of the phytochemicals in the Noni extract does exactly that! They found that it was the phytochemical in the Noni extract, which, goes by the name of Damnacanthal that does this. When they added the Noni extract to RAS activated cancer cells they observed them daily for five days. What they saw was incredible.
They reported that slowly, day-by-day, the cells began to change their morphology (cell structure) back to normal. It is only on the basis of this kind of hard science that doctors can rely upon the ability of a plant extract to produce the return to good health now being seen clinically by people who have been struggling with cancer. No one knows if Noni will produce a return to good health for any specific person, but the research shows there is a scientific basis for believing that it is possible.
The above represent only a sample of the research completed on the Morinda Citrifolia plant. The results are conclusive in each case in showing the validity of the traditional use of the Noni.
The journal Cancer Letter (1993, 161-6), reported that Keio University and The Institute of Biomedical Sciences in Japan claimed isolation of this new anthraquinone compound from Morinda citrifolia called damnacanthal. Important research on the medicinal uses of Noni was presented at the 83rd, 84th and the 85th annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research.
A later study conducted at the University of Hawaii showed similar positive results regarding noni and its use as an anti-cancer agent. Researchers in Hawaii reported the mice clinically infected with Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) and left untreated, 13 died within nine to twelve days. However, mice infected with the same strain of LLC and then injected with an extract from Hawaiian Noni Juice lived significantly longer. Nearly 60% of the treated mice survived over fifty days, and four of those mice continued to live. On average, the Hawaiian Noni Juice extract prolonged life span of the infected mice by 119%. The scientists concluded that the Hawaiian Noni Juice extract acts as an inhibitor to the LLC infection.
3 Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG): EGCg is an antioxidant, which, is found in large quantities in Noni, raspberries, tea and grapes. It has been proven that EGCG brings the value of NOX (the active enzyme in cancerous cells) to normal.
4 Monoterpene: Noni fruit contains a large amount of Monoterpene. Generally Monoterpenes inhibit the cancer process in early and advanced stages. Interesting is the fact that using large quantities of monoterpenes have no side effects.
5 Eugenol, Beta-carotene and Ursolic acid: Research has shown that eugenol, beta-Carotene and ursolic acid found in Noni have anti-cancer effects.
6 Proxeronin: The xeronine factor is also involved in that xeronine helps to normalize the way malignant cells behave.
Research shows that noni’s xeronine also stimulates cancer-killing immune cells, destroying cancer cells on contact and stopping the growth of tumors. Studies suggest that could help at least 40% of cancer patients beat their disease. “Noni also seems to help prevent tumors from growing in the first place by tricking pre-cancerous cells into behaving normally again,” says Dr. Neil Solomon. While they are still technically cancer cells, they no longer function as cells with unchecked growth. In time, the body’s immune system may be able to eradicate these cells.
Presently at Hawaii University a study is ongoing on the effects of Noni on cancer.
NONI AND THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
The alkaloid and other chemical compounds found in noni have proven themselves to effective control or kill over six types of infectious bacterial strains including: Escherichia coli, salmonella typhi (and other types), shigella paradysenteriae, and staphylococcus aureus. In addition, damnacanthol, was able to inhibit the early antigen stage of the Epstein-Barr virus.
The bioactive components of the whole plant combined or in separate portions, have demonstrated the ability to inhibit several different strains of bacteria. Anecdotal reports support this action in the noni seems particularly effective in shortening the duration of certain types of infection. This may explain why noni is commonly used to treat colds and flu.
The chemical constituents found in noni and the possibility that they stimulate xeronine production-as well as initiate alkaloid therapy-may explains noni’s reputation for having immune-stimulatory properties. 6-D-Glucopyranose pentaacetate a polysaccharide found in the Noni increase the ability of the immune system to produce chemicals that enhanced the killing power of the white blood cells. White blood cells kill cancer cells. They have to defend us against viruses, bacteria, yeast, amoeba, parasites and all types of invaders. Since this Noni polysaccharide worked by increasing the overall killing power of the white blood cells, this means it will most likely enhance that same killing power against any invader. It indicates Noni is very likely an overall immune enhancing substance that may provide that little extra which gives you the winning edge when some invading organism attacks your body.
Alkaloids have been able to boost phagocytosis, which is the process in which certain white blood cells called macrophages attack and literally digest infectious organisms.
Noni stimulates the production of T-cells in the immune system which play a pivotal role in fighting disease and enhances the immune system involving macrophages &/or lymphocytes, which are a vital part of the body’s natural defences.
ANTIOXIDANT AND DETOXIFIER
Noni contains phytonutrients, Selenium and Vitamin C, which are powerful body detoxifying agents to help rid the body of toxins. Noni t nourishes the body’s cells tissues and organs, and also fights free-radical damage caused by aging process, harmful chemical and pollutions.
The process of aging bombards the body with free radicals, which can cause all kinds of degenerative diseases. The xeronine theory promoted by Dr. Heinicke submits that as our body’s age, we lose our ability to synthesize xeronine. To make matters worse, the presence of many environmental toxins actually blocks the production of xeronine as well. He believes that the proxeronine content of noni fruit juice can help to block these actions, thereby working as an anti-aging compound.
NONI AND ARTHRITIS
Under the general umbrella term of “arthritis” lie many different kinds of diseases that result in pain associated with bodily movement. In fact, there are more than 100 different types of rheumatic diseases that are often misdiagnosed as arthritis. A short list of such diseases includes bursitis, tendonitis, systemic lupus, and connective and soft tissue diseases. Regardless from which disease one may suffer, chronic pain is often his or her constant companion.
Common arthritis, called either osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease, is found in the joints of the body, the most common areas being the knees and fingers. These joints become inflamed and sore from continued wear and tear. The cartilage that normally cushions the joints degenerates, leaving the raw joints to rub against each other. Often a person’s condition exacerbates with age because of continued wear and tear.
Rheumatoid arthritis, on the other hand, can attack at any age. It is an autoimmune disease that causes the body to destroy bodily tissues as if they were foreign invaders. Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis include mild to severe joint dysfunction, fever, weight loss, stiffness, aching and loss of energy. Many times there is a red, painful lump located around the rheumatoid joint. In one form of autoimmune disease associated with arthritis, Sjrogren’s syndrome, the eyes and mouth may become very dry because the salivary glands are also affected.
There are several ways in which noni may alleviate the undesirable symptoms of arthritis. First and foremost, pain is the number one complaint with arthritis. A laboratory in France conducted a study that showed mice, given a liquid form of Morinda Citrifolia, had significantly increased reaction time to a hotplate. The researchers concluded that this experiment demonstrated noni’s analgesic qualities. Next, Morinda Citrifolia has also been shown to contain scopoletin, which has anti-inflammatory and histamine-inhibiting effects, both of which are excellent for the promotion of smooth joint movement. Finally, the cellular enhancing qualities of noni may also minimize the damage to the joints and other involved tissues.
In Dr. Neil Solomon’s survey an incredible 80 percent of the 1,235 with either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis reported lessened symptoms after starting a regimen of Noni Juice.
Amount of Noni Usage: The average amount consumed by the 80 percent who reported positive results were 3 ounces per day.
According to Dr. Heinicke’s theories, the xeronine link found in noni fruit has the ability to “help cure various manifestations of diseases such as cancer, senility, arthritis, high blood pressure and low blood pressure.” Anecdotal surveys have found that noni repeatedly eases the joint pain associated with arthritic disease. One link to arthritic pain may be the inability to properly or completely digest proteins, which can then form crystal-like deposits in the joints. The ability of noni fruit to enhance protein digestion through enhanced enzymatic function may help to eliminate this particular phenomenon.
In addition, the alkaloid compounds and plant metabolites of noni may be linked to its apparent anti-inflammatory action. Plant sterols can assist in inhibiting the inflammatory response, which causes swelling and pain. In addition, the antioxidant effect of noni may help to decrease free radical damage in joint cells, which can exacerbate discomfort and degeneration.
NONI – ANTIBIOTIC
Acubin, L. Asperuloside, alazarin and some of the anthraquinone compounds within noni are proven antibacterial agents. These compounds, which are found in the juice of the noni fruit, have been shown to fight against the infectious bacteria strains: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus morganii, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and Escherichia coli. Additional tests have shown antibacterial activity in noni controls two pathogens: Salmonella and Shigella. Discovery of the antibacterial elements within noni juice support its use to treat skin infections, colds, fevers and other bacteria-caused health problems. as
NONI A NUTRITIVE BOOSTER
More and more research suggests that because M. citrifolia compounds enable the immune system to function more effectively, taking the herb in concentrated forms may significantly boost health and performance. These compounds appear to have the ability to increase the absorption, assimilation and utilization of vitamins and minerals. The presence of proxeronine in noni initiates a rise of xeronine in the intestinal track, which enables the walls of the intestines to more efficiently absorb carious nutrients, especially amino acids. Vitamins act synergistically with xeronine to nourish all body systems.
In addition, leaf extracts of the plant have a significant amount of protein and the fruit contains substantial ascorbic acid content. Noni fruit has been considered a food staple in Polynesia for centuries. Apparently, even soldiers stationed in tropical regions during World War II learned of the fruit’s ability to boost endurance and stamina. Native cultures in Samoa, Tahiti, Raratonga and Australia used the fruit in cooked and raw forms. Noni is considered a tonic and is especially recommended for debilitated conditions. Noni can be taken as a daily tonic along with other supplements, including vitamins, minerals & herbs, including: pycnogenal, germanium, vitamins C & E, chondroitin, Aloe Vera etc. Noni boosts general health & performance and brings about a dramatic improvement in weakened conditions.
It increases absorption, assimilation and utilization of vitamins, herbs & minerals.
HYPERTENSION
Scopoletin dilates blood vessels and normalizes blood pressure. It does not however reduce normal blood pressure to abnormally low levels because of the synergistic effects of other neutraceuticals in the Noni juice.
Beta-sitosterol lowers cholesterol levels and helps treat certain benign prostate tumors – H.K. Moorthy (1970) and V.U. Ahmad (1980)
NONI AND DIABETES
This smelly plant has helped to lower the blood sugar of those who are borderline diabetics or type II diabetics.
While scientific studies are lacking in this particular application of noni, Hawaiians used various parts of the plant and its fruit to treat blood sugar disorders. Anecdotal surveys have found that noni is currently recommended for anyone with diabetes.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTIHISTAMINQUE
Noni contains scopoletin, which reduces blood pressure. Scopoletin is also anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic. It is effective for muscular and joints conditions such as arthritis, allergies, asthma, carpal tunnel syndrome, for reducing pain and swelling in injuries such as bruises, strains and burns. It is beneficial for ulcers, cellulitis, scalp conditions, itching rashes. It is also used as a poultice, applied to the affected skin.
This amazing herb has been seen to have anticongestive properties. Those with allergies to food, animals and pollen have found relief from the nasal congestion and asthmatic reactions that usually occur with contact to these items when taking Noni.
NONI AN ADAPTOGEN
Noni’s multiple phytonutrients, plant nutrients, act as adaptogens, a nutritional substance that helps abnormal cells ‘sick cells’ function more normally. It helps restore body’s internal organs to normal function. Scientific documentation of benefits for gastrointestinal system (diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, colitis, ulcers), reproductive organs (menstrual problems, fibroids, yeast infections), liver & pancreas (diabetes mellitus, pancreatitis), respiratory system (asthma, sinusitis, emphysema), endocrine system (thyroid & adrenal disease), cardiovascular system (heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke), nervous system (stress, depression, memory, sex drive, energy) etc.
The isolation of a compound from noni called scopoletin by the University of Hawaii in 1993 attributes the new compound to lowering blood pressure, reducing inflammation, killing bacteria & fungi & preventing tumor growth.
NONI – A MOOD REGULATOR
Noni contains serotonin, which is also known as the mood molecule because it modulates raw information and gives it its emotional tone. Low serotonin are linked to depression, suicidal tendencies, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive behavior, over-eating, bulimia, schizophrenia, sleep problems, migraine headaches, autism, drug and alcohol addictions, Alzheimer’s disease and patterns of violent behavior. Serotonin regulates our mood and also plays a significant role in the treatment of various disorders, particularly those of central nervous system such as stroke, obesity, pain, hypertension, cardiovascular disorders, muscle contraction, nausea, endocrine regulation, temperature regulation, appetite control and sexual behavior. Noni juice is the only safe way to increase serotonin level without any side-effect as nature use precise proportions and relationship to combine vitamins, minerals, and other phytochemical co-factors to enhance the benefits of each individual component. The body takes what it needs from nutrients and eliminates what it does not need.
NONI AN ANALGESIC
When taking Noni, many people experience a feeling of over-all wellbeing. The Chinese believe Noni improves mental powers and Dr. Heinicke agrees. He says that the xeronine in Noni (has the ability to help normalize abnormal protein and subsequent cellular functions including brain function) opens brain receptor sites, allowing the brain to receive more of the hormone endorphin, which brings the feeling of wellbeing. With enhanced relaxation and relief of pain a person often feels better. It has been used for treatment of pain & headaches hence known as the “Pain & Headache Tree”. It is beneficial for back & neck pain, muscular & nerve pain, migraine & tension headaches. Noni has also been found to have a central analgesic effect.
According to studies of Morinda Citrifolia; noni has been found to be 75% as effective as morphine sulphate in relieving pain without the toxic side effects of morphine. Unlike morphine, noni is not addictive.
A 1990 study found that extracts derived from the Morinda citrifolia root have the ability to kill pain in animal experiments. Interestingly, it was during this study that the natural sedative action of the root was also noted. This study involved a French team of scientists who noted a significant central analgesic activity in laboratory mice. Dr. Heinicke has stated, “Xeronine also acts as a pain reliever. A man with very advanced intestinal cancer was given three months to live. He began taking the proxeronine and lived for a whole year, pain-free.”
Strengthens the Skeletal System
Noni reduces pain and swelling, clearing inflammatory conditions, and strengthens weak bones and ligaments. Many people with rheumatoid arthritis have reported a rapid increase in the ability to walk, run or use their once inflamed joints after taking Noni. Noni also decreases swelling which can occur in the arms or legs.
Male and Female Sexual Problems
This tropical plant stimulates the endocrine system; solving many hormonal problems Historically islanders used it to bring on menstruation. It relieves menstrual cramps and has been said to help female problems such as discharge. By strengthening the endocrine system, Noni is said to solve sexual problems for both men and women.
INTERNAL REGENERATION
Noni contains Terpenes which, aid in body organic synthesis and cell rejuvenation
NONI AN ANTIFUNGAL AND ANTIPARASITIC AGENT
With the presence of active components like anthraquinones, scopoletin & terpenes (e.g. beta-carotene & ursolic acid), noni is effective against bacteria & fungus. Anthraquinones from noni stimulate the activity of the entire digestive process, increasing the much- needed secretion enzymes and bile flow. Extracts of damnacanthal, one of the anthraquinone compounds has been shown to kill the parasite responsible for malaria called Plasmodium falciparum. Damnacanthal is also potent against leishmaniasis, a parasite condition.
Noni proved to be vigorous in its antiparasitic action when an alcoholic extract consisting of morinda citrifolia & other plants was tested against the human parasite worm called Ascaris lumbricoides. Noni juice has a very low PH of 3.4 to 3.8. It is acidic in nature, therefore, containing powerful anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-tumor and antihistamine properties. It is very effective in helping the body combat candida albicans and other yeast overgrowths.
Noni contains short-chain fatty acids called caprylic and caproic acids that promote more complete digestion and inhibit the growth of fungi and yeast in the digestive tract.
NONI A SKIN HEALING AGENT
One of the most prevalent historical uses of noni was in poultice form for cuts, wounds, abrasions, burns and bruises. This herb clears acne, boils, eczema and blotches, bleeding and cracking. Using its fruit extract for very serious burns has resulted in some extraordinary healing. Because skin is comprised of protein, it immediately responds to the presence of xeronine. When the skin is broken or traumatized, proxeronine enters the affected region from surrounding areas, and xeronine synthesis subsequently rises, enhancing healing and tissue regeneration. Burns are especially vulnerable to this biochemical process. Dr. Heinicke and his colleagues, who have studied enzymatic therapy, consider boosting xeronine production within a burn site through the direct application of a noni poultice quite effective. Concerning burns, he believes that each tissue has cells, which contain proteins, which have receptor sites for the absorption of xeronine. Certain of these proteins are the inert forms of enzymes, which require absorbed xeronine to become active. This xeronine, by converting the body’s procollangenase system into a specific protease, quickly and safely removes the dead tissue from burns.
NONI THE SOLUTION TO ADDICTION (DRUG, ALCOHOL, CIGARETTE AND OTHERS)
The xeronine link to treating drug addiction is based on the notion that flooding the brain with extra xeronine can reverse the neurochemical basis for addiction. This natural alkaloid is thought to normalize brain receptors, which subsequently results in the cessation of physiological dependence on a certain chemical like nicotine. The potential of noni as a natural stimulator for the production of xeronine may have profound implications in treating various types of addictions. At present noni is known to be the best source of proxeronine (a precursor to xeronine).
To treat this addiction, place a few drops of noni juice under the tongue every hour. This will release proxeronine straight into the bloodstream from the soft tissue under the tongue to the brain. Repeating this procedure every hour will help flood the brain with this useful compound & allow the brain to subsequently prefer xeronine than nicotine.
Note : The body does not get addicted to xeronine & thus noni is not addictive
Noni and animals
Noni is a wonderful product for animals. 90% of the time the animals respond well to Noni. Noni juice is not only wonderful for alleviating pain; it’s also antihistaminic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-carcinogenic. It strengthens the immune system’s ability to fight viral infections. Noni heals and rejuvenates, controls vomiting, counteracts poisons, and stabilizes animals that are in shock. It takes care of the inflammation associated with joint problems, arthritis, sprains, and fractures.
Noni juice also helps organs heal more quickly, reverses neurological disorders, helps spinal cord injuries, and enables animals to recover from comas more quickly. Most vetinary Doctors who know about Noni no longer need to use painkillers, muscle relaxants, or steroids on my animals. Noni has miraculous effects on allergies, cancer and other growths, diabetes, skin rash, parasites, wounds, dermatitis, fever etc.
In a nutshell the uses of Noni can be summarized as follows:
Noni can also be used to increases body energy, assist anti-inflammatory and anti-histaminic action.
It protects digestive and cardiovascular systems, thanks to its antibacterial properties.
Noni inhibits growth of cancerous tumors, by stimulation of the immune system.
Noni reduces effects of ageing and lowers cholesterol level.
It compensates the lack of xeronine in the cell membranes that causes in some people diabetes.
Noni relieves pain thanks to the xeronine and other components etc.
Conclusively, Noni saves our body by giving us the aliments we need.
WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT NG4L NONI
“NG4L Noni is made using FDA approved techniques in the extraction and preservation of both liquid and dried form of Noni. It is100% pure, not diluted with any juices, has no water, flavors or any other adulterating substances added. Our label states clearly that there is one, AND ONLY ONE, ingredient in the bottle: 100% pure Noni juice, period, WITHOUT DILUTANTS OR ADDITIVES OF ANY KIND. Our juice is made from handpicked fruit that is naturally aged in the traditional Hawaiian way taught by our forefathers, a process that takes 2 months and allows the juice to seep naturally from the fruit.”
The fruit juice has a very powerful, pungent taste and smell. Most would describe the taste as somewhere between “not too bad” and “really, really awful.” The best tasting juice is made from fully ripened fruit. Green or half-ripe fruit makes for a more bitter tasting juice. Fully ripened Noni fruit begins to ferment almost immediately after harvesting, getting soft to the touch, turning translucent, and emitting a strong odor.
The resultant juice will have a heavy fruity taste. Fruit that is half-ripe when picked will cause the juice to taste vinegary. A bitter, vinegary taste is also the result of leaving leftover pulp in the aging tanks to try to squeeze out every last drop of juice. There is no hard scientific evidence to indicate whether Noni should be harvested fully ripened or half-ripe. While the taste of Noni juice has never been described as good, most people will get used to the taste, and even begin to like it…just a little. You can use your own fruit juice to dilute it.
Everything about noni is STRONG, including its medicinal effect on the human body and its buffering capacity in the body. Despite Noni’s low PH, its overall effect on the body is a balancing of PH. If you’re too acidic, it will help neutralize the acid, and if you’re too alkaline, it will help produce more acid. Having the proper acid/alkaline ratio is very important to good health.
How much Noni should I take, and when should I take it?
Recommendation for taking the Noni capsules:
- Take with a full glass of water, preferably 8 oz.
- Capsules should be taken on an empty stomach at least 1/2 hour before a meal, so that your system will absorb it faster. If two capsules are taken each day, they may be taken together at one time, or you may split them up by taking one capsule 1/2 hour before breakfast and one capsule 1/2 hour before lunch.
- Those people who have never taken Noni before in any form, such as the “juice”, should start off by taking 2 capsules a day for 5 days, then rest for 2 days. The reason for the 2-day rest is to allow your system to accept and absorb the Noni better, and you should feel some results at the end of this 2-week period.
- After the 2-week period, you may continue to take 2 capsules a day or take 2 capsules every other day, or you may even cut down to 1 capsule a day or 1 capsule every other day. Use your
- own discretion in increasing or decreasing the amount of Noni capsules you take based on how “good” and “well” you feel.
People who are already taking Noni in any form, such as the “juice”, may skip number (3) mentioned above and just start off with number (4).
Recommendation for taking noni juice:
Traditionally, the recommend starting dosage is 1 teaspoon two times per day. After your body becomes acclimated to Noni, this dosage may be increased as necessary. Generally most people take 30 – 60ml (3 to 6 tablespoons) per day. Noni should be taken on empty stomach, immediately on waking and half an hour before dinner or sleep. Pepsin and stomach acid on full stomach destroyed sensitive components of the Noni juice. Take in your Noni slowly, gargle it gently in your mouth and mixing it with your saliva, then let the Noni slip down your throat slowly. It is particularly good for people with addictions, mood disorder (depression, hormonal imbalances, stress, trauma, etc) and for pain relief.
Noni is a natural fruit juice product and there is no such thing as a Noni overdose. Noni juice is a good cleanser, so the worse that might happen if you drink too much is you may find yourself making more visits to the porcelain princess than usual! Your own body is the best judge of how much Noni juice to take. Most experts agree that higher dosages are called for in the treatment of serious disease, such as cancer or diabetes. For more information read “NONI TESTIMONIES” to help you find out how much to take for your condition. The best time to take Noni juice is first thing in the morning, or a half hour before meals. That way the juice makes its way directly into the small intestines where it is quickly absorbed into the body. If the taste of pure Noni juice is too unpalatable to you, it is perfectly acceptable to mix it with water or your favorite fruit juice.
How soon should I notice the effects of Noni?
Each of us is unique in terms of age, health status, and tolerance for different types of medicines. At any given moment there are thousands of chemical reactions taking place within our bodies. This accounts for a wide variety of individual reactions to Noni. Some people will notice a difference immediately, while others may take longer to experience the benefits. Our experience with Noni indicates that most people will notice some effect within the first month.
How long will my Noni juice keep before spoiling?
Unopened Noni juice has an almost indefinite shelf life of up to 1 year or more. After opening, Noni should be kept in the refrigerator. Noni juice tastes best chilled, and it will last at least 6 months in your refrigerator. Noni juice is a fermented product, and it will continue to age slowly on your shelf. So the bottle you open 1 year from now will taste a little stronger than the first bottle you opened. This is completely natural. Some people even believe that the potency of Noni increases the more it is aged, although there is no scientific evidence to support this belief.
What does Noni juice taste like?
How should the taste of Noni juice be described? This is a question great thinkers and philosophers have wrestled with throughout history.
